With the arrival of Autumn season, the peak season for Nepal’s tourism industry, the country is all geared to welcome tourists in huge numbers. Preliminary statistics shows that majority of the star rated and tourist class hotels have already been booked for September and October season. Further international airlines such as Dragon Air, China Southern, Jet Airways, Korean Airways, Ethiad Airways, Gulf Air and Thai Airways have already sold out tickets in advance for September and October. 80 % of the bookings are based on Block booking. Dragon Air alone has 98 % ticketing from September till March and is planning to increase the air frequency from three to four weekly flights. Dragon Air and Silk Air based in Hong Kong and Singapore target in bringing tourists from Australia, Japan and Amaerica. Thai Airways is also planning to operate 10 flights per week from seven. The shortage of air seats is a big obstacle especially for American and European tourists visiting Nepal during Autumn season. There are altogether 16 international airlines currently flying to Nepal. State owned Nepal Airlines Corporation and domestic Cosmic Air are other two airlines which connects Nepal with rest of the world. |
