Buddhas birthplace to have a Park |
Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, is in preparation of seeing a construction of a park within less than two years. The park will prominently feature a life-size monument of Little Budhdha, three ponds and a showcase of Korean culture. The park will cover an area of 12 hectares. | Buddha birth Place | Buddha birth Place | | The total cost of the construction is estimated to be around NPR 30 million and will be borne by Korea Cultural Center and Sun Hype Peace Adcademy. This was informed by Yeom Sun Jung, Director of KCC during his trip to Nepal this May. KCC also has plans to bring in over 7000 Buddhist religious leaders to Nepal from Korea. Earlier in Febraury 2008 some 300 Buddhist monks led by Hye Ja visited the Lumbini site as part of their visit campaign to 108 Buddhist Temples of the World. Hye Ja is again coming back to Nepal with a group of 108 monks on a pilgrimage tour to Nepal and visit Lumbini and other Buddhist shrines. The trip is part of the effort to sensitize and inform Koreans about Lumbini, the original birthplace of Buddha. | |
