Trip of a Life Time Everest Base Camp
They say Everest base camp trek, a trip of a Life Time… but it’s not just the destination but the people around you that help to make it so…

Before I had even left New Zealand I received informative e-mails to help with any questions, no matter how blonde or simple the question they answered. I was so impressed I knew then Everest base camp trek was going to be a great trip.

On arrival in Kathmandu I was warmly meet at the airport by our guide Thakur and later the whole team at the office. I was joined with 3 others in my group and our trip started with a Traditional Nepalese dinner and a city tour of Kathmandu the following day.

At last the big day arrived, Day 1, our flight to Lukla and onto Everest Base Camp. We had with us 2 porters, 2 assistant guides and Thakur our guide. These guys were amazing, not only carrying our packs but looking after us all the way. Making sure we were happy, healthy and coping Ok with the altitude and drinking lots of water (over 3 liters per day is required). Walking slowly slowly was the answer but that didn’t worry us because we were slow anyway!

After 9 nights we made it to Everest Base Camp, totally incredible all the way. Then 4 nights back to Lukla (a night early as the weather was changing). We said our sad goodbyes to our porter team then flew back to Kathmandu with Thakur (looking forward to a really hot shower). The trip ended with a celebration dinner, followed by more sad goodbyes to my team mates and Himalayan Glacier team.

I had an amazing time and when asked, would I do this Everest base camp trek again, the answer was YES! Especially with Himalayan Glacier Trekking.
